Another Successful Harlow Business Forum!

On Tuesday 7th of November Harlow Council and the Harlow & District Chamber of Commerce held another successful Harlow Business Forum. The bi-monthly meetings are free to join and cover various topics such as business support, grants, funding and other Harlow business news.

The November event provided ‘Updates on Harlow’s Regeneration Plans’ with a presentation from Cllr Dan Swords the leader of Harlow Council and Cllr Michael Hardware, the portfolio holder for Economic Development. The presentation dived into upcoming planned housing projects in which 11 housing schemes are being brought forward, these included The Arkwrights, The Yorks, Perry Road (former Lister House), Woodleys, Parnall Road and more. The planned works aim to deliver 103 new councils homes, with some projects starting on site throughout November / December 2023.

Further updates included an overview of the Towns Fund in which Harlow was awarded £23.7m of funding. Supporting Town Centre updates including a sustainable interchange, a new sustainable transport hub (bus station), Broad Walk transformation, plus an Institute of Technology at Harlow College and a new entrance to the Harlow Enterprise Zone (templefields). The councillors also provided details of Harlow’s Levelling Up Fund in which £20m will be used to create a Arts & Cultural Quarter near the Harlow Playhouse.

Finally, Harlow Council’s Economic Development Team delivered a presentation on the new Harlow Business website – www.harlowbusiness.org. Providing support and guidance to Harlow and local businesses with a business support page, recruitment support page and details of Harlow’s upcoming business events. Plus a free to join Harlow business directory in which local businesses can advertise their products and services. Finally, the team also highlighted a brand new initiative to showcase successful Harlow businesses. The Harlow Business Forum also marked a significant occasion with the official opening of the Discover Harlow Hub, located within the Harvey Centre. After the presentations had concluded businesses, councillors and members of the Harlow & Gilston Garden Town gathered to mark the opening with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. The hub is now open to the public and businesses where they can find information on Harlow’s upcoming development plans and get their questions answered.
