Hibbard Photography 📷 Local Studio with a Personal Touch

Posted on August 1st, 2025 in Harlow Business Case Study

Nestled within the Moot House at The Stow in Harlow, Hibbard Photography is a creative studio run by local talent Louise Hibbard Leer. Designed for those who want more from their photography experience, the studio captures everything from family milestones and beloved pets to themed and quirky photoshoots.

We had the pleasure of meeting Louise and learning about her journey in launching her Harlow-based business. She shared:

“When I was younger, I studied art and photography, but my career path took many turns—dog grooming, waitressing, even care work. After having children, I attended a newborn photoshoot and was shocked by the price—and even more surprised that I could only choose 4 or 5 photos. I wanted them all! That’s when I thought: there must be a better way. A way where clients can receive more photos. That’s when the dream of my own photography business began.”

Louise started by photographing small projects for family and friends, and in 2018, she opened her first studio in a warehouse space. Her goal was simple: to offer a friendly, flexible photography experience where clients receive at least 10 photos, often more, without hidden fees or restrictive packages. This approach allowed her to pursue her passion while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person sessions weren’t possible, Louise turned her lens to documenting a historic moment in Harlow. She captured powerful images of residents clapping for NHS workers outside Princess Alexandra Hospital, police officers on duty, and scenes from across the town in 2020.

Today, Hibbard Photography operates from the Moot House, a vibrant community hub that also hosts weddings and events. Visitors to the studio are greeted by an impressive array of props, costumes, backdrops, and lighting—plus a perfectly placed air conditioning unit for those warm summer shoots!

When asked about the types of sessions she offers, Louise said:

“I’m happy to photograph anything. I don’t have a ‘favourite’ subject because I love variety. Outside the studio, I cover weddings, parties, corporate events—even fun sessions like princess meet & greets. Inside, I’ve done headshots, newborn shoots, baby cake smashes, family portraits, couples, pets, and boudoir portfolios. If you can think of it, I’ve probably photographed it.”

In a delightful twist, Louise and her family also run YayPlanes, a side project born from her son’s love of aircraft. The family travels to watch planes, and Louise captures stunning images—some even featuring the iconic Red Arrows. It’s a heartwarming blend of family fun and professional skill.

As a proud member of the Harlow community, Louise regularly supports local groups and charities. She offers photography sessions to organisations in need, such as a recent graduation shoot for Roots to Wellbeing, creating lasting memories for families supported by the charity.
