MurWalls: Taylor Swift Art

Posted on October 1st, 2024 in Harlow Business Case Study

MurWalls are a street art brand based in Arise Harlow, who bring together the very best British Street Artists to create large scale murals globally. They work with official licenses and big brands such as Warner Bros., Manchester United FC, Arsenal FC, West Ham United, Manchester City FC, England Rugby, Hasbro, Transformers, Care Bears, Sony Pictures and so many more…

Their murals range from realistic portraits to promotion of brand products and film releases.

MurWalls started in December 2019 as a home indoor mural business, however the Covid 19 pandemic caused the business to pivot to outdoor murals. This pivot was crucial to their success and the business has continued to grow, outgrowing their first Harlow premises they now reside in ARU Arise.

Their latest project was a series of murals for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. The first mural was created in collaboration Humor Street Art under what was once the Spanish Steps but for summer 2024 transformed into the Swiftie Steps. Truly in their Lover era, the idea for the mural came about as the artist’s girlfriend is a fan of Taylor Swift and the artist wanted to create a surprise for her. The mural featured Swift in her outfit from the 2023 Grammy awards ceremony surrounded by lyrics from some of her songs. Getting in the true Swifite spirit the lyrics include a hidden message for the Swifities to decode.

MurWalls returned to Wembley in August to upgrade the Taylor Swift mural with augmented reality. Murwalls are the first to integrate augmented reality into murals, their first example of this was a mural of Liverpool football legend Robbie Fowler. The mural on Coningsby Road by Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium depicts Robbie on a stained-glass window, when a QR Code is scanned, the mural comes to life with moving pieces and a shining halo for the player fondly known as “God” by fans worldwide.

With MurWalls return to Wembley they also created another mural of Taylor Swift in the merch store. Meaning Swifties could see both murals come to life with Taylor Swift winking, butterflies flying past and fireworks exploding behind her. This is in keeping with the MurWalls’ brand, a continued effort to keep growing and make each project better than the last. Last year they created a new division, MurWalls publishing, turning their artwork into print and t-shirts, to allow fans to take the MurWalls’ creations home.

MurWalls are a thriving Harlow based business, pushing the boundaries with augmented reality murals. The passionate team have worked on various projects and continue to build a portfolio of exquisite artwork. Blazing a trail as a unique, creative Harlow business.
