Backing Essex Business

Business advice and business finance to grow your Essex business.

Fully funded by Essex County Council and delivered by Let’s Do Business Group, Backing Essex Business provides help for your business to grow, through advice, access to business finance and training.

They help small-to-medium-sized businesses to grow, providing 12 hours of free professional advice on finance, marketing, and recruitment.

They can also provide loans for business growth and start-ups, and recovery Loans up to £150k to support businesses in their recovery from COVID-19.

BEST Growth Hub

The BEST Growth Hub provides businesses in Essex with a single point of access to a wide range of local, regional and national support.  Guiding and nurturing businesses – from start up to scale-up – their friendly and experienced team offer FREE and impartial signposting on funding and finance options, 1-2-1 business advice, skills and training and much more in order to help you find the right support for your business.

Essex Chamber of Commerce

Essex Working Well

Working with Essex businesses to provide free workplace health and wellbeing support. Includes meetings, guidance, training and workshops on a variety of workplace related topics including mental health, HR Support and much more.

Launch It

Free programme for aspiring Creative Entrepreneurs which is open to any individual, pre-start or early-stage creative business from across Essex, looking for help to set-up and run a tech and/or digital business. In the 10-week programme, you will learn about everything it takes to set up and run a successful tech and/or digital business.

Innovate UK Funding

The Innovate UK website provides a free funding finder tool, allowing users to search, browse and apply for different forms of funding.

A variety of funding is available to support different businesses, projects and pilot schemes. Including scientific research, automotive technology, farming, computing and more.

Green Entrepreneurs

Supporting young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 30 to launch their sustainable business ideas. Entrepreneurs can receive mentoring, access to workshops and funding of up to £5,000 to help grow green start-up businesses.

UnLtd Awards Funding

Do you have a social venture? Or perhaps looking to start up a social venture? Then you could be eligible for funding. If your business idea sits in between a commercial business and a charity, often described as profit for purpose then why not explore the UnLtd awards. Funding of up to £18,000 is available to help get started of grow.

Heat Pump Training Grant

Are you a heating engineer? or run a heating business?

If you’re a heating engineer, a sole trader, unemployed or employ less than 250 people you could receive a discount of up to £500 towards the cost of heat pump training. Plus additional support and advice when installing a heat pump for the first time.

EV Charging Point Grant

Grants for electric vehicle charging hardware are available to businesses and offer up to £350 off the purchase and installation of an electric vehicle charge point, up to a total of 40 sockets.
